Urge Grocery Chains: Improve Quality Control

Nearly every week a new food recall is announced. Here’s some of what we’ve seen in just the past few weeks:

-shredded cheese for a potential listeria contamination
-frozen Trader Joe’s meals for plastic
-cinnamon containing lead
-dairy products and ready-made foods from Costco

Consumers head to their local grocery stores expecting to buy safe consumable food and ingredients. We should be able to do so without fear of getting sick or injured at our dining room tables.

Sign the petition to urge grocery chains to improve quality control.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has already noticed a trend this year — each month the number of recalls is increasing. They noted the jump from 4 in January to 7 in February.

Food safety inspectors will continue to conduct daily inspection activities, but grocery chains and food manufacturers must do more.
