Tell Republicans: Stop Suppressing Black Votes

On Saturday, a Florida judge struck down congressional district maps for northern Florida because they improperly diluted Black voting power.

Then on Tuesday, a panel of three federal judges struck down Alabama's congressional district maps for the exact same reason.

Enough is enough. Sign the petition demanding that Republican elected officials stop their shameful attempts to suppress Black votes.

Jasmine Burney-Clark, the founding director of Equal Ground Education Fund, celebrated the Florida decision.

“Voters should be empowered to pick their leaders, not the other way around,” she said in a statement over the weekend.

Notably, the Florida maps – which violated the state constitution by failing to protect minority-access districts – were strongly supported by Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis.

Sadly, these racist attempts to suppress the vote aren't new. But they've only ramped up over the past decade following the Supreme Court's 2013 decision to gut the Voting Rights Act – and it's up to us to find back.
