Tell Republicans: Stop Attacking Endangered Species

Pres. Biden just vetoed two Republican bills that would have eliminated federal protections for two endangered species.

The species in question – the lesser prairie chicken and northern long-eared bat – have both experienced rapid population decline in recent years.

While we appreciate Pres. Biden's veto, protecting endangered species should be a bipartisan issue that all Americans can agree on.

In a statement, the White House pointed out that the Republican bills Pres. Biden vetoed "would undermine America’s proud wildlife conservation traditions and risk extinction of the species."

Conservationists praised the vetoes while expressing concern about the ongoing Republican attacks.

"The American public, regardless of party affiliation, overwhelmingly supports the Endangered Species Act and believes it should be fully funded to protect species from extinction," Jamie Rappaport Clark, president and CEO of Defenders of Wildlife said in a statement. "Congress needs to wake up to this fact and cease their continual attacks."
