Tell Republicans Not to Shut Down the Government

After weeks of chaos and the inability to elect a new Speaker of the House, Republicans finally elected Mike Johnson to fill the vacant role.

Now, Republicans are in a race against time as we face a looming government shutdown in just a few weeks.

But with deep cuts on their minds, they may not be able to get a spending bill passed in time.

A government shutdown would impact millions of Americans; pausing critical programs, allowing families to go without paychecks, and much more.

The deadline for passing a spending bill to keep the government open is November 17 — and we need to keep the pressure on Republicans to avoid a shutdown.

Sign the petition to urge Republicans to pass a spending bill to avoid a government shutdown by November 17.

Republicans will need to work with Democrats if they want to avert a looming shutdown.

“They have to do it bipartisan, just like we did here in the Senate,” Sen. Patty Murray, chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee said. “That’s how we’re getting our bills done, and in the House, that’s how you have to get bills done.”

We agree. Add your name to the petition urging Republicans to get to work and not shut down the government.
