Tell Congress: Boost Families, Not Birth Rates

Some Republicans want to pay Americans to have more babies while slashing the social programs that help children and families thrive.

They’re pushing a dangerous “baby bonus” scheme that echoes authoritarian regimes and ignores the real crisis: families are drowning without affordable childcare, healthcare, housing, or paid parental leave. Republicans have even floated giving a “National Medal of Motherhood” to women who have six or more children—while gutting Medicaid and slashing maternal health programs.

It’s nothing more than forced-birth ideology dressed up in dollars – and American families deserve better. That’s why we’re calling on Congress to reject it.

Tell Congress: Families need meaningful support, not “baby bonus” gimmicks. 

Parents in America already face crushing costs—raising one child now tops $315,000. A one-time check won’t pay for a single year of childcare, let alone a decade of doctor visits, rent, and groceries. And for families who immigrate to the United States with the hope of making our nation stronger, these plans offer nothing but fear, exclusion, and separation.

We need policies that truly support families—no matter their income, background, or birthplace. That means guaranteed paid family leave. Universal childcare. Affordable housing. Accessible healthcare. And a path to citizenship for immigrant parents raising the next generation of Americans.
