Stop Blocking Access to Abortion in Michigan

Last November, voters in Michigan voted overwhelmingly to enshrine abortion rights in the state's constitution. Since then patients around the country seeking abortion have traveled to the state seeking care.

But thanks to burdensome and confusing restrictions – like a consent form that has to be printed and signed 24 hours before an appointment begins – many patients are being turned away.

Democrats in the state legislature introduced the Reproductive Health Act to remove the barriers and make it easier for those seeking abortions to get the care they deserve.

And the only thing standing in the way of passing it is one Democrat who, in a surprise vote on September 20, opposed the bill.

According to State Rep. Karen Whitsett, she supports abortion rights, but didn't like the fact that "it was pushed through."

Whatever her reason, we're calling on State Rep. Whittsett to stop blocking access to abortion care in Michigan.
