Put Fired EPA Workers Back to Work

People who protect our air and water were fired for sounding the alarm — and America is less safe because of it.

Early this year, Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency purged veteran scientists and staff after they warned that political appointees were silencing science and pushing through rollbacks that endanger our health. These are experts who spent decades tracking toxic chemicals, preventing pollution-linked birth defects, and cleaning up hazardous waste. 

But now, they’ve filed a First Amendment lawsuit and appealed to the Merit Systems Protection Board, demanding justice. The MSPB has a choice: defend the integrity of the civil service or rubber-stamp political retaliation. It’s up to us to make sure they make the right decision.

Tell the Merit Systems Protection Board: “Protect the First Amendment rights of federal workers everywhere and defend their ability to do their jobs. Ensure fired EPA whistleblowers are put back to work now.”

Trump’s purge was a message to every federal worker: stay quiet or get crushed.

The MSPB, which protects workers from unfair termination, has a chance to set things right. And when thousands of us speak up, it shows the Board — and the country — that firing scientists for dissent is a line the public will not tolerate. 

Reinstating these workers isn’t just about righting a wrong. It’s about restoring the EPA’s backbone. It’s about making sure polluters don’t get free rein. It’s about telling every public servant that truth-telling is a duty, not a liability.

We cannot let political loyalty replace science. Not now. Not ever.
