Don't Let Trump Withhold SNAP Benefits From Blue States

Donald Trump is threatening to starve blue state families into submission. 

Trump’s USDA just warned that it will withhold critical SNAP funding unless Democratic-led states hand over years of sensitive personal data on millions of low-income families. If states refuse, the administration will start cutting the funds that keep EBT cards working and food benefits flowing.

This is political blackmail. And the people who will suffer are the children, seniors, and working parents who rely on SNAP to eat.

Tell Congress: “Don’t let Trump use SNAP benefits as a weapon against blue states. Restore full SNAP funding now and protect every family’s access to food.”

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins claims this is about “fraud,” but this crisis is entirely manufactured. 

SNAP benefits go to households instead of individuals, which means that non-citizens may be part of a household with qualifying family members. But that ensures that food goes to kids who qualify but are too young to go through the application process themselves. And immigrant parents share sensitive information to ensure their families can eat.

Trump wants blue states to help him build a database on poor families and immigrants. They refused. Now he’s punishing them by going after the people who need SNAP the most.

If Congress doesn’t intervene now, families in more than 20 states could see delays, shutdowns, or outright loss of benefits. We can’t let that happen.
